Before I begin, some advice for anyone who should choose to follow in my footsteps and attend a course at NLP Scotland. Expect to get more than what you think you will and be ready for your life to change.

I decided to book onto the NLP practitioner course as I was keen to pick up some new tools which could make my work more effective. This is what I thought I would get and I wasn’t disappointed. However I got so much more than this. The course very quickly became a journey of self discovery for myself. This was in part facilitated by the course setup. Many of the other practitioner courses which I had looked at had anything up to 50 people on them and sometimes more. Knowing that such a learning environment wouldn’t suit me I was pleased to find that NLP Scotland ran closed courses.

There were 9 people on my practitioner course and the bond that formed between us during the course was incredible. I’ve never experienced a learning environment that was so supportive, fun and engaging. Something I don’t think would have happened on a larger course. The very nature of the course meant that we were sharing quite personal information and problems as we began to master the tools and techniques that are embodied within the NLP practitioner experience. This learning environment was engineered by some wonderfully gifted trainers. Jeff and Jane led our group on a journey of incredible learning which involved some massive life changing moments for many of the course participants, myself included.

During one training exercise I volunteered to take part in a “limiting belief change exercise”. The limiting belief which I presented to Jeff was skilfully and subtly explored until I suddenly had this massive “oh my god!” moment where I realised that I didn’t actually believe I could be the person I wanted to be. This was such a revelation as I’d always thought of myself as a confident person who was in control of getting what I wanted from life. At this point I knew something big was about to happen for me. Without explaining how it happened, after the exercise I had the unshakeable belief that I could be the person I wanted to be and that I could do anything I set my mind to. This was a life changing moment for me.

At the end of the course I was amazed at how much learning had taken place. Jeff and Jane’s style is indeed a clever one. The skills which they impart on the course, they use themselves in the delivery of the course. Consciously you may be aware of learning certain things but this represents only one layer of the learning experience. Jeff and Jane skilfully integrate so much of the course content into the unconscious mind and I’m sure take great satisfaction as they see the looks of surprise on the faces of the course participants as they begin to use the skills without conscious effort. Incredible.

Three months later and I have much to be grateful for. As a result of my experience with NLP Scotland (I have also completed their Ericksonian Hypnotherapist course) my life has changed in a big way. From a standpoint of total belief in myself I have set up my own business which is allowing me to integrate all of the skills and knowledge which I have gathered over the years. Bringing together my existing skills as a reality therapist and coach of various outdoor activities (rock climbing, white water kayaking, open canoeing and mountaineering) and integrating them with the skills of NLP and Hypnotherapy has allowed me to create a company offering a totally unique service. From a life coaching perspective I am offering one to one sessions to help my clients deal with any current problems which they are experiencing and to move on to live more fulfilling and positive lives. For those wanting to really expand their horizons, my clients have the option of combining their coaching experience with the Great Outdoors and for those who want a truly intensive life changing experience we have a series of Personal Growth Courses to help people unlock the potential within. On the sporting excellence side of the business I am committed to helping sporting professionals and recreational enthusiasts to realise their full potential, allowing them to take their successes and confidence to the next level. My life has been given an enormous boost over the last 3 moths and it all started with NLP Scotland. As I’ve come to realise through my learnings with Jeff, Jane and all of the other wonderful people I have met through NLP Scotland, we all have all of the resources inside of us to make the changes we want in our lives. And believe me, it feels amazing when you start to access them.
